Wanna Hear a Funny Story?

Happy Saturday! I have a card and some pictures to show you along with a funny story......
I made this card because it reminds me of my parents who live in Arizona. This stamp is my first cactus stamp- I ordered it from Unity last month. I had also planned to use it as one of my Hip Hop projects this past Thursday however about ONE hour before the blog hop was to begin I realized that two of the stamps were no longer available so I couldn't use the card! Well I stamped like I never stamped before....Scraps were flying everywhere andI even dumped embossing powder all over the place- it was crazy! The dog and the cat were ducking for cover! But I managed to get a card made and posted in just the nick of time. I still wanted to show you my Western card, though and I figured that I should show you some picture of the giant mess I made.....however I did clean up some before I thought about taking pictures so it's not as messy as it was. :)

(The sentiment Go West is still available in the kit: Wanna Be a Cowboy)
My Cutter Desk after emergency card making:
You would never guess it but this really IS my dining room table....
And this is my main work area- where most of the crazy action took place:
And this is what my stamping area is supposed to look like. It was quite a clean up job plus I have moved all my un-mounted Unity into the green containers from Target. It definitely helps with organizing and saving space.
See- I can eat at my dining table now!! (Guess I can't use the table being messy an excuse not to cook anymore, huh?)

Yes, that really is my desk top you see! It does exist!!
Thanks for stopping by!! I hope you have a great weekend!

I just need to say I have had a total BLAST and appreciate EVERYONE's support! I am so grateful for this opportunity and I am excited to see who February's Guest Designer will be!
Now on to the good stuff. :) The first project I have for you is a Ghiradelli Box made with Mix up of Cuteness. I am usually so scared to make boxes but I must say this was so easy!

It's hard to believe that we've been doing the Unity Challenges for over 20 weeks! We have had so much fun and this week is no different. These colors were tough for me but I think I made them work pretty well. I used two past Kits of the Month and the January Kit of the Month to create my card. Be sure to check out the other Unity Junkies blogs (see sidebar) for more cards. If you play along too use keyword USC21 when you up load to SCS so we can find your card.

Paper: Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink, Real Red
Ink: Black Stazon, Yo Yo Yellow, Summer Sun, Real Red

Unity Challenge Wednesay- It's a Bookmark

It's Wednesday and time for the Unity Junkies' Challenge. This week Maria is our hostess and she challenged us to make a "themed bookmark" based on a book that you love.
I don't have a favorite book because there are so many that I love. Currently I am reading Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer- the third book in the Twilight Series. That is the book I chose to base my bookmark on. I used the Love Is Toxic set from Unity because what better describes the love affair of Bella and Edward?

I embossed the "Mine" Stamp with Versamark and clear EP. I stamped the "I Heart blank" stamp in silver and wrote in Edward with my Versapen. Then I embossed both with Silver EP. The Skull in Love was stamped in Red and cut out. I finished the bookmark with Red stickles, Red grosgrain ribbon and Jumbo Eyelet. I am not sure how I feel about this creation- I think I am out of practice with my embossing skills but overall I think it fits the theme of the book.
Be sure to check out the other Unity Junkies' blogs (see sidebar) for more bookmarks and join everyone for Hip Hop in the Unity Forum tomorrow. The Unity staff will be on their way to CHA but we will still be Hip Hopping!

Happy Hip Hop!!

Woo hoo! It's the second Hip Hop of the New Year! I hope you are as excited as I am! Hopefully you are joining me from Angela's Blog. She will be posting the Hip Hop Specials at 11 AM (central) so be sure to check back later.
The first card I have to show you is made with January's Kit of the Month, Love, etc. I am totally in LOVE with this kit. There are so many possibilities inside this one package of stamps! You can get this kit at the club price through the end of the month. I highly recommend it!

I used the 2009 stamp, Distressed Star and Happy New Year Sentiment. I don't scrapbook but I can still find a lot of uses for the year stamp. WOW!!
My next card involves the "Sneaky Peacock." LOL! You've seen him around...he hops from party to party and he's here today to Hip Hop with us. I also used the Brand NEW alphabet that is being released today, Just My Type. Although I already did my Unity Addicts Challenge card I decided to stamp inside this card too- because there wasn't enough room on the front to say what I needed to.

I hope you are ready to see more Unity goodies today because this Design Team has some great stuff in store for you! Hop on over to Heather M's blog next! Thanks for stopping by!

Unity Challenge Wednesday- Inside and Out!

Good morning! I am trying to squeeze this blog post in before I go to work. For this week's challenge, Sara challenged us to stamp on the inside of our card as well as the outside. I kept mine pretty simple since I am crunched for time but I also incorporated Amber's Sketch challenge for this week- USCSC10. It's a really great layout for a card!

I used Unity's January Kit of the Month for my card: Love, etc. Unity has released some great kits so far but this one just might be my all time favorite EVER!! It has so many adorable images it was hard to pick which ones to use first. I used the oval frame, the swirl and the sentiments all my love and together forever. Very cute- I can see these will be used a lot in my future. :)

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the other Unity Addicts blogs (see sidebar). The group keeps growing as more and more people become addicted. You will be sure to see some great eye candy as you browse these girls' blogs.

Stamps: Unity Love, etc.
Paper: Old Olive, Cameo coral Rose Red, Raspberry Tart DSP
Ink: Old Olive and Rose Red
Accessories: Nestabilities, Ribbon, Martha Stewart Border Punch

It's Monday Already??

I don't know about you, but it seems like my days off just flew by and it was time for work again. YUCK!! Oh, well. You gotta have money to buy stamps, right? ;) So off to work we go (oh yeah- we might want to buy some food and pay some bills too......).

The project I have for you today is a masculine card for one of the drivers I work with. He is one of the hardest-working, nicest guys ever. It's hard to believe he's still really new at this job because is is doing excellent work. He has been really sick and so I made him a card for everyone to sign and mail to him.
I broke out a Scrappin' kit I've had for.....oh about a year now. That's right- I just now broke the plastic on it. :) (I will look for the hoarders' anonymous support group as soon as I finish typing this....) I used the Dream Tree stamp from Unity. You can buy this individually OR as part of a gorgeous set called Growing In Unity. I have the kit because I like to have stuff to go with it....what can I say? I'm a girl- I like to accessorize. The sentiment is from the Unity Kit Simply Said.

I hope it cheers him up and lets him know we are thinking about him. It seems these days it's harder to find someone with a good work ethic and he really has one. AND he is always nice and polite to me. I really wish I could say that for all of the drivers I work with. :) Thanks for stopping by and feel free to send a prayer his way.

Stamps: Unity Dream Tree, Simply Said

Ink: Brown Stazon, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Antique Linen

Paper: River Rock, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, SU DSP

Accesories: Ribbon and twine, Aged Copper Brads, Basic Grey file kit for distressing the edges.

Hip Hop Hangover with some Friday Fun!

I hope everyone is ready for the weekend. Stamping challenges are back full force for me this week and I've got THREE challenge cards to share with you.

The first card is for the Friday Fun Challenge I do with three of my Sassy Friends. Kim is our hostess and she challenged us to make a card with BRIGHT colors. Yikes!! You can play too- just use keyword FFC17 when you upload to the SCS gallery. For more Friday Fun cards visit these blogs:

Jimmi: The Stamping Shopper
Kath: Blame it on the Mojo

Stamps: Unity November KOM "Enjoy your story...laugh"
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Green Galore, PTI White, BoBunny DP Ink: Black Stazon, Riding Hood Red, Green Galore, Yo Yo Yellow, Only Orange, Brillian Blue, Ballet Blue
Accessories: Scallop Border Punch, Nestabilities, Green Ribbon, Dimensionals

Next card I made for the Unity Addicts challenge this week. Kim (a different Kim) challenged us to make a SLIM card.
Sometimes
Less
Is
More
This week's challenge was to keep it simple having only a card base (you can use minimal layers however) one image or sentiment and one embellishment. I did layer my image with silver paper to give it some zing but I only used the stamp Queen For A Day from Unity and some beautiful lavender ribbon I received from Lindsay Spencer. (If you are reading this, Lindsay- I am using up my goodies if you can't' tell....)
Stamps: Unity Queen for a Day
Ink: Lovely Lilac
Paper: Lovely Lilac, Silver, PTI White
Accessories: Lilac Ribbon

My last card is my Hip Hop Hangover card. I combined both the challenges issues by Jeanne in the Unity Hip Hop forum to create this card. The challenge Impressed with Unity calls for using dry embossing or scoring on your card. The Unity Dazzle challenge requires you to use rhinestones on your card. So for this card I did both! This is from Unity's December Kit of the Month: Little Reminders. The past kits of the month are still available! Check out the Unity website here: http://www.unitystampco.com/tags/97

Stamps: Unity: Little Reminders
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Pretty In Pink
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Riding Hood Red, BoBunny DSP
Accessories: Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, PIP ribbon, Rhinestones, Gellyroll pen in Stardust

Speaking of Unity's Kit of the Month Club- if you are already signed up OR if you sign up by the end of January- you will get this beauty Once the month is over you won't get it for month kit price again.....and this kit is just too adorable to pass up.

Thanks for stopping by!! I will be stamping a lot this week and next....because it's only 8 days until the January Mini VSN CRUSH!! So stay tuned - more info will follow soon. ;)

Hip Hop is BAAAAACK!!!

I'm so excited- Hip Hop is BACK!! I can't tell you how much I have missed Hip Hop! If you haven't been to Angela's Blog to check out all the wonderful things she has for you start there. If you are joining me from super-talented Jennifer's blog- Welcome. You are one step further in the blog hop. :)

I have a card to show you with a brand new set. This adorable stamp set is called Shine On and I absolutely LOVE it. I have a feeling you will be seeing a lot of it in my gallery and on my blog in the future. I have so many ideas spinning in my head.....
I stamped the sentiment and lamp with Black Stazon onto a Tangerine Tango panel. Then I stamped the lamp again on Pink Pirouette and cut the shade out and popped it up. It is accented with Tangerine Tango and my Gelly Roll Black Embossing pen. The flowers are from Growing in Unity. They are colored with a white gel pen also.
Now Hop on over to the extremely talented AJ's Blog. I am sure she has some wonderful eye candy for you today and hang out with us in the Hip Hop Forum starting at 11CST today!
