Friday Fun # 71 and Unity Friends With Flair

This is my last week to host the Frida Fun Challenges- It's been fun but I can't let everyone off without giving a TRUE challenge. So- this is the challenge: Feb 26th   is Tell a Fairy Tale Day….so choose your favorite Fairy Tale and make a card based on it.  Show me your Princesses, Dragons, or anything Magical.
I don't have a favorite fairy tale (I like them all), so I chose a fairy and magic as the theme of my card.  These stamps are from Unity's November 09 Kit of the Month Simply Magical.  I love this kit and what goes with fairy tales more than a fairy looking up at a giant flower?

Better Late than Never.....Color Challenge Card

Good Evening!  I've been sick all week (but I still had to work, imagine that) and I have spent today trying to get caught up.  I must say....I didn't make much progress.  LOL.  I did however manage to make a card today, and if I do say so myself- it turned out pretty good considering.  I used this week's Color Challenge (#259) as a starting point for my card.  It is based on the colors of the Olympics and you can choose how many of the colors you use.  I used Yellow, Green, Blue, Red and Black.  I also used White and Brown as my neutrals.

I used the newly-released set Any Birdy Home? from Artful Inkables.  I just love this set- it's so pretty. There are three Bird Houses in this set along with two great sentiments and some flowers and leaves.  Check it out.
Thanks for stopping by today.  Be sure to come by tomorrow for some Friday Fun and Friends with Flair.....and don't forget that the VSN WINTER OLYMPICS is this weekend on SCS!  The hostesses are sure to have some great challenges lined up- I can't wait!

Stamps: Artful Inkables Any Birdy Home

Artful Inkables New Release Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Artful Inkables Blog Hop featuring February's New Releases. You should be arriving here from Crystal's Blog. If not, start the hop at the Artful Inkables BLOG so you don't miss any of the Design Team's creations.

Today I used the brand new set, Fanciful Flowers. You can find this cute little mini set on the Artful Inkables Website. I made flower pot filled with stamped flowers and a few paper flowers with a matching card. I had so much fun coloring the flowers with my Prismacolor Pencils.
Here is the whole set:
Here's the flower pot and bouquet. I used a plant marker and covered it with patterned paper and stamped on it.
Here is the card- it's hard to see in the picture, but some of the flowers are popped up to add extra dimension.
I hope you are enjoying the hop so far. Your next stop is LISA. She is sure to have something fabulous to share with you.

Friday Fun- Happy Birthday!

TGIF!! Are you ready for this weekend? It's Valentine's Day. I hope everyone has special plans- if you're single be sure to treat yourself. You deserve it.
This week's Friday Fun challenge is hosted by ME again. Since today is Abraham Lincoln's birthday the challenge is easy: Make a Masculine Birthday Card.

Here is my card using Unity's January Store Kit of the Month (yes, I caved and ordered it...but it is so darn fabulous!!) Livin' and Lovin' Life.
I just love this sentiment....it's so cute. It actually says "Valentine, You're a Real FUN-GI" but I just took the ink off the word Valentine. :) Be sure to check out the other Friday Fun girls' creations:

Probably....Probably Not....

Happy Thursday. This post is late because I have been extremely lazy today. It's been a long couple of weeks here in Sherryland. I've been busy, but not just with work. I've had a lot of fun and good things happening too. Sherryland is a good place to be right now.

I made today's card for this week's Clean and Simple (CAS) challenge on SCS. The challenge is an inspiration challenge- to choose some Retro Candy from this SITE and make a card inspired by the picture. I chose this candy because....well, the box is just pretty.

Here is my card inspired by the Retro Candy:

I may have gotten carried away with the card- I just love pink and brown but Clean and Simple is difficult for me. Is it cute? Probably. Is it Clean and Simple? Probably Not. LOL

Stamps: Artful Inkables Birthday Best
Paper: SU Pretty In Pink, Close to Cocoa; PTI white; DCWV Sweet Stack
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Nestabilities, Circle Punches (1 1/4, 1 3/8), Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you come by tomorrow for some Friday Fun. :)

Friday Fun # 68 and Friends With Flair Valentine

Happy Friday! I am so happy that Friday is finally here. This month, I will be the hostess of the Friday Fun Challenges and I am starting out with a bang, I tell ya. The challenge was inspired by a thread I was reading on Splitcoast about just using the basics for stamping. It made me think of the days right after I discovered stamping when all my supplies would fit in ONE drawer. Crazy, right? But I still loved stamping so much back then even without all the latest and greatest tools. So the Friday Fun Challenge is:

Back to Basics- Remember when you first started stamping and all you had was card stock, ink and stamps? it’s time to put away our fancy toys and patterned paper and make a card with the very basics.

So for this challenge you are limited to the following:

Stamps: As many as you like

Ink: up to 3 colors (not counting black or brown)

Paper: up to 3 colors of card stock plus one neutral; NO patterned paper.

Coloring medium: You can use ONE coloring medium (markers, pastels, pencils, etc.)

Embellishments: ONE kind. You can use more than one of the same kind…(5 brads, two ribbons, etc.) but only ONE kind.

NO Nestabilities but punches are ok.

It was really hard- who knew I was SO addicted to Patterned Paper?? LOL Here is my card using Unity's set: I Ruff You

This is also my card for Unity's Friends with Flair. You can find all the FWF participants on the Unity Blog.
The other Friday Fun girls are sure to have some fabulous creations. I can't wait to see their take on this challenge. It's not easy, but it is FUN!

Think Ink Challenge- Going Country!

Today I have a card for the current Think INK Challenge on the Artful Inkables Blog. Kristin offered up a great sketch and I had to try it.
Last night my best friend and I went to go see Country Artist, Luke Bryan in concert and it was great! So my card is a little country because I am still in the country mood. :)
Here is Kristin's Sketch: And here is my card:
Stamps: Artful Inkables Down on the Farm
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Kraft, Black, White, October Afternoon Farm Fresh Collection
Accessories: Button Brads, Lace Trim, Prismacolor Pencils; Circle and Scalloped Circle Punches

Play along for a chance to win some Artful Inkables Stamps. Just Link your creation using the sketch to the blog post HERE by Monday Feb 15th Midnight PST.

Thanks for stopping by- see you tomorrow for some Friday Fun!

One More VSN Goody!

I made it to work yesterday, but we didn't put our trucks on the road (Seriously- gas tankers and icy, slushy, snowy roads do NOT mix). I DID get to drive around with my sweetheart and listen to him make fun of my driving. Apparently, he wants me to be careful AND drive faster....LOL.
I decided to try another challenge from the Mini VSN. I chose Robyn's challenge: Spotlights On Ice. The challenge was to try the Spotlight Technique and if possible, incorporate the colors of the Olympics: Yellow, Red, Blue, Green and Black. I actually managed to get all those colors on the card.
I really wanted to paper-piece the mushrooms so I kind of reverse-spotlighted the snail. It's a little different, but I think it added more color to the card.

Stamps: Unity January 2010 KOM Savor the Journey
Paper: PTI White and Lemon tart; SU Not Quite Navy; Cosmo Cricket PP
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils; PTI Ribbon and Buttons; Nestabilities; 1" and 1 3/8" Circle Punches; Foam Tape

Thanks for stopping by- have a GREAT day!
